"The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archaeological resources," (NPS, 2020).

William Steele Properties
William Steele was a critical architect of the Prairie School style during the early 1900s. Steele designed over 200 buildings in Sioux City including the Woodbury County Courthouse. A list of the properties known to have had Steele design and/or work with has been created and linked below.
