Endangered Properties description

The following properties have been identified as being historically significant by the Sioux City Historic Preservation Commission. At this time these properties are placarded due to code deficiencies. For more information regarding the status of the deficiencies call 712-224-5154.

1615 Douglas

This Colonial Revival styled house was constructed in 1901 for John Mulhall, a local realtor.  Although its original wood siding has been removed or covered, the house maintains a great deal of its original architectural integrity.

1509 Grandview

This once stately Queen Anne styled residence was constructed in 1889 for Thomas P. Gere, president of the Sioux City and Northern Rail Road Co, and member of the board of directors of the Corn Exchange National Bank.  Gere is closely related to development of the city- invovled in several rail lines to and through Sioux City.

This property is slated for demolition because it has been Red tagged, but it can still be saved if an interested party presents a plan for rehab.
